However, to make the most of this type of air conditioner, you have to make sure that it’s properly installed in the right spot by a trusted home heating repair and AC installation company.

Parts of a Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner

Ductless mini split air conditioners have two main parts: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. They also have conduits, which house power cables, suction tubing, refrigerant tubing and condensate drains to connect indoor and outdoor units.

General Guidelines for Indoor Units

  • Indoor units should be placed in areas that will allow air to be distributed evenly throughout the room.

  • Indoor units mounted on walls should be no more than eight feet from the floor to prevent cool air from being sent to the ceiling.

  • Indoor units In bedrooms should be placed directly above beds or on walls above your feet for maximum comfort.

  • Indoor units should be installed by HVAC and duct cleaning contractors in such a way that louvers and air filters are easy to access.

  • Indoor units installed above windows should be symmetrical with the windows.

General Guidelines for Outdoor Units

  • Outdoor units should be kept in open spaces for uninterrupted airflow.

  • Outdoor units should be placed on surfaces that can suppress vibrations to prevent premature deterioration of components.

  • Outdoor units should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from bushes and other vegetation.
