4 Commercial HVAC Tips You Need to Follow This Summer

With the summer season set to arrive soon, property owners are beginning to plan for the maintenance of their buildings. Often this includes replacing the roof, the lights or even the windows of the building. However, when you’re planning for commercial building maintenance, these aren’t the steps that you should take. In fact, HVAC repair pros say that you can also take the time to maintain your commercial HVAC units this summer.

Here are four commercial HVAC tips you can follow this summer.

Change the air filters – When you own HVAC units, it’s a good rule of thumb to replace the air filters regularly. This is because they can become dirty and clogged as time goes by, making a replacement necessary. To determine if your air filters need to be replaced, remove them from each unit and hold them up to a light source; if you can’t see any light passing through the filter, this means it needs to be replaced.

Inspect & clean the condensate drains- HVAC units produce a certain amount of moisture as part of their dehumidifying feature. With that in mind, when you’re maintaining your commercial HVAC units, be sure to check the condensate drains to remove moisture and clear any blockages to allow the water from the unit to flow away easily.

Install a programmable thermostat – Alternatively, you can also consider having your HVAC replacement experts install a programmable thermostat in your building, if you don’t have one already. By so doing, you’ll have excellent control over the operation of your equipment, allowing you to save a significant amount of money in the long run.

Clean the outdoor and indoor units – Since you’re already maintaining your HVAC system, consider having a professional clean the indoor and outdoor units as well since dust and dirt can accumulate on them over time. This way, your HVAC units will be clear of any material that can potentially cause problems.
